Avenues for mental health support
We live in an increasingly isolated world where human connection is more important than ever. By strengthening human connection and providing avenues to mental health support for those most in need, the Cook Center for Human Connection is working to eliminate 100% of suicide.
PEOPLE DIE EACH YEAR WORLD WIDE
Evidence demonstrates that meaningful relationships with other people, even just one, can prove to be both life-affirming and life-saving.
Human connection has proven to boost mental health and protect against depression, anxiety and uncertainty. In the company of loved ones, mentors, or trusted advisors, threats become smaller challenges, stigmas can be overcome, and painful shocks become manageable.
Creating Human connection
The relationships we share with others — friends, family, community members, and mental health professionals — are major protective factors against stress, depression, anxiety and even suicide. The Cook Center for Human Connection is a conduit to bring together the best programs, partnerships, research, policy and events that have demonstrated effectiveness in creating the human connections that are vital for strong mental health.
My Life is Worth Living™ is the first animated series that models the human connection shown to be protective against suicide. The series tells stories of characters who face some of the most difficult issues that young people deal with and shows their evolution in the key decision: that life is worth living.
